Why the Heck I (Also) Started a Photography Blog – and What It Has to Do with You
About My Photography
Welcome to my brand-new blog about my photography! Yes, you read that right: yet another blog in the world! Because who doesn’t have a blog these days, right? It seems like having a blog is now as obligatory as that annual gym membership in January (which we promptly forget about by February). And after months, no, years of hesitation and deliberation—because this is obviously a very important step (isn’t it?)—I finally convinced myself to go for it. Voilà, here I am with my very own photography blog.

Why Photography? Because, Why Not!
Of course, I could have chosen a safer topic like food, fashion, or fitness. But photography? Well, that’s something different. Photography is my theme in the broadest sense because, let’s be honest, “in the broadest sense” gives me a bit of creative freedom. Maybe it’s due to my tendency to capture things in photos that I can’t quite remember why I photographed later. Or maybe it’s because I can’t decide whether I’d rather discuss the technical aspects or just show beautiful pictures.
Thoughts on Photography – or How I Try to Be “Spontaneous”
A blog needs content, and that’s where photography comes in. You’re probably wondering what exactly I have to say here. Well, to be completely honest, I often have spontaneous thoughts about photography swirling around in my head like overly excited cats in a cardboard box. And that’s exactly what I want to share here: fragments of thoughts, ideas, and moments of madness that compel me to grab my camera and press the shutter. Does it always make sense? Probably not. But who needs sense when you can make art?
Some of My Favorite Photos and Why They’re So Wonderful (in My Opinion)
Now that I have your attention, why not brag about some of my photos? Of course, I could tell you that every image is profound and meaningful, an emotional journey or a visual poem—but I wouldn’t be true to my ironic self if I actually believed that.
For example, there’s a photo of an empty park bench in the rain. Why did I take it? Honestly, because I was too lazy to keep walking, and that bench was the only place to sit in sight. But when I looked at it later, I suddenly saw the “melancholy of urban isolation.” Sounds good, right? Sometimes the best photos are just the ones that cross our path in a moment of convenience or boredom.
Or the picture of a crumpled coffee cup on the sidewalk. Many would say it’s just trash, but in the right lighting and with the right filter… hey, why not? You could interpret it as a study of urban consumerism. Or simply as a moment when I was playing around with my camera, trying to look like a real street photographer.
The Great Art of Editing – or How I Try to Mask My Mistakes
Now let’s talk about something every photographer knows well: photo editing. Who among us hasn’t spent hours running a photo through countless filters only to realize that the original might have been better? But the magic of editing lies in the fact that it makes anything possible. Dark corners that are impossible to avoid in real life? No problem, a bit of “Dodge & Burn,” and it looks like the work of a master photographer! A photo that accidentally came out blurry? Welcome to the club of “creative blur”—a trend that always works as long as you sell it with confidence.
And because I know that today, you simply can’t post a photo without running it through Lightroom, Photoshop, or some other software wizardry at least three times, I’ll also share my personal experiences, frustrations, and occasional triumphs in the world of digital darkrooms.
Why This Blog – and Why Now?
Well, why not? Maybe because I finally got tired of hesitating and thought if everyone else can do it, why shouldn’t I? Maybe because I wanted to justify my overflowing hard drive full of images that have been collecting digital dust until now. Or maybe just because I can. Who knows where this journey will lead? What I can promise, however, is that it will be interesting, entertaining, and occasionally a little chaotic—just like photography itself.
So stick around, enjoy the ride, laugh with me (or at me, that’s fine too), and let’s find out together why the heck I started this blog and whether it’s really worth it.
Cheers to this new, ironic start to blogging and the art of capturing light!
